I started obsessing with makeup around 3 years ago, maybe Fall of 2011. That was also around the time when I started watching YouTube videos of beauty gurus. Back then, I wasn't really into collecting makeup nor I was in for collecting high-end brands of makeup. I always told myself then, "there is no way I'm buying a $20 blush". So, I only bought myself drugstore brands and my favorite was Maybelline. I believe it still is my favorite to this day if I had to pick a drugstore brand favorite.
Only after a few months that I started to buy high-end makeup. I remember the first high-end brand of makeup I bought was from Mac Cosmetics. I honestly don't know which item, however, I knew right then that some high-end brand makeup items were actually worth getting. Before I knew it, I started growing my collection of makeup.
3 years later, I had no idea I would actually have less drugstore brand items because I got rid of some or I gave some away to my mom. I settled on some things that are worth getting as a high-end and then some that are worth getting from the drugstore. I experimented on a lot of items that could work cooperate well with my skin tone and type. Some things I would rather get from the drugstore are mascaras, lip liners, nail polishes, etc. I actually have items that I prefer both from the drugstore and high-end makeup stores (lipsticks, foundations, blushes).
So that is a sort of 'background story' of how I got into all things beauty - especially makeup. I can honestly say that I spent 3 years self-teaching myself on how to apply makeup on myself the way I see fit for my skin type, tone, and features. It wasn't just about collecting and obessing with makeup, it was a whole learning experience that, I learned, can benefit me in many ways. I guess I can call it as one of my many hobbies that I'll love doing for the rest of my life.
